Avenue de la Couronne spans the Maelbeek valley, in parallel with the Germoir railway bridge and station. How do you build a city when the geography appears unsuitable for building? In this very steeply sloping part of Ixelles, a bridge was required to extend Avenue de la Couronne, and another to pass over the railway line. This guided tour explains these sometimes complicated urban planning links and enables participants to understand the size of some urban planning projects that have to reconcile an urban plan with difficult terrain.
