The construction of the veterinary college in Cureghem in the early twentieth century started the development of this whole district. The college’s imposing Eclectic architecture is particularly refined, as are the designs of the middle-class houses that surround it. This guided tour explores a district with a rich industrial past which has preserved some extraordinary heritage buildings, as well as many traces of businesses which thrived there and made Brussels the first industrialised city in Europe.
