This walking tour visits the major historical sites of the centre of Brussels: the Grand’ Place and its surroundings, the Sablon or the royal district. The tour demonstrates how the medieval commercial city was transformed by the neo-classical buildings and major construction projects of the nineteenth century into its present-day incarnation of a model European capital.
