The Solbosch plateau in Ixelles was the site of the 1910 Universal Exhibition, to which bear witness today’s Avenue Franklin Roosevelt (formerly Avenue des Nations) and the “Chateau” former café-restaurant in the Art Nouveau style by Léon Delune, recently converted into an embassy. This guided tour covers the construction of this new suburb, that is now home to the campus of the Free University of Brussels.
